TLDR: We just launched a new VTK file converter that allows you to convert the data on your new ProStart or SpeedPuck to CSV or GPX file format: https://converter.velocitek.com/#/
When we were developing the data logging for the new ProStart and SpeedPuck, our plan was to log the data as GPX files. The ProStart logs magnetic heading, heel, pitch, COG and SOG at 4Hz (four times a second). The SpeedPuck logs GPS data at 4Hz. At this sampling rate the GPX files were unwieldy.
After consulting with the developers of leading GPS replay and analytics applications, and we decided to develop a much more compact, open binary format called the VTK Protocol.
If you're not a programmer VTK files may not be the easiest thing to use, so we created a VTK file converter that converts VTK to GPX or CSV:
GPX is a universal standard for GPS data.
CSV is a common data exchange format that is widely used for spreadsheet and database programs.
The converter page also includes useful links to replay and analytics software options as well as simple GPS viewers to give you free and paid options for using the data on your Velocitek product.
