SailGP and the America's Cup use advanced technology to ensure races start on time, run cleanly, and are easy to follow on TV. Their systems are expensive and complicated. They require big investments in proprietary equipment, and are run by large skilled teams.

We are grateful that these organizations spent the time and money to show us the possibilities. And we recognize the work needed to right size these advances for the rest of the sport.
We are not alone seeing these challenges. Over the past twenty years, many sailor engineers have brought us dozens of scoring systems, registration platforms, robot marks, tracking applications, and most recently: automated starting systems including the Velocitek RTK Puck.
Each of these tools deliver useful features, but can also be expensive and complicated. So, in order to realize the benefits promised by these innovations, we need to reduce overlap, increase interoperability, and eliminate administrative burden.
At Velocitek, now that we have successfully miniaturized the highly accurate corrected GPS system introduced at the 2013 America’s Cup and later adapted by SailGP, and made it affordable, we are bringing the Velocitek RTK Puck to market seamlessly integrated with TracTrac’s Race Manager application.
Race committees, particularly those running championships, work very hard to:
- Start races on time,
- Run fair, consistent courses,
- Complete more races in a day, all
- At a cost that can be supported by donors and sponsors.
We believe technology can address the challenges of running a world class event, and our partnership with TracTrac makes deploying these new technologies simple, easy and affordable.
With the Velocitek RTK Puck + the TracTrac Race Manager, regatta organizers and sailors get:
- precision automated starting
- real-time tracking and replay
- performance data for sailors
All operated through one simple system. The Velocitek RTK Puck + the TracTrac Race Manager saves time on the water and has proven to deliver an additional race for every day of racing.
Velocitek and TracTrac are working together to bring better racing for sailors, better outcomes for organizers, and a better experience for everyone involved.
